Types of Energy

Critical Resource - sustainable resources from forests, plants and animal waste but whcih require managemnt for them to remain sustainable. 

 

Non critical - everlasting resources such as tides, waves, water and solar power. THEY WILL ALWAYS PROVIDE ENERGY.

 

Primary Energy - Energy sources in raw form such as oil, natural gas, water. They are used to produce secondary energy.

 

Secondary Energy - Manufactured sources of energy such as petrol, electricity.

 

Hydrocarbons - the plant and animal remains that form fossil fuels are chemicals called hydrocarbons. Compounds that contain only hydrogen and carbon atoms.

 

Fossil Fuels - Formed from plant and animal remains over millions of years, such as coal and crude oil.

 

Flow resources - The result of continuous flow like wind or tide, its renewable energy.

 

Stock resources - Stock of each resource and when its gone its gone forever, such as oil.

 

Reserve - Part of Resources that are available for human use.

 

Resource - Can be used to meet human needs, but not necessarily accessible.

 

Sustainable development - Meets the needs of the present generation without compromising needs of future generations.
