This is where water flows over a surface, most likely grass and/or soil.
Surface runoff occurs when soil is infiltrated to full capacity and excess water flows over the land.
Run off can lead to flooding in built up areas such as towns/cities. This is because the ground is generally impermeable (concrete/tar), which means that the water cannot infiltrate into the soil and remains on the surface.
