A river terrace is a remnant of a former floodplain.
1. Sea level falls and so the river has more erosional force vertically.
2. It reaches equilibrium with the base level and so begins to erode laterally.
3, This creates terraces; an old floodplain above the new floodplain.
EXAMPLE: River Thames, UK. It has many terraces, built up areas of Oxford and London are on the terraces.
